Lemar Gladney

Lemar Gladney was born to Abraham Gladney, Sr. and Ada Mae Gladney on July 24, 1954, in Louisville, MS. Lemar transitioned into eternal life on September 5, 2026.

During his formative years, Lemar accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville, Mississippi. After graduating from high school, Lemar attended Southern State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he played the clarinet and saxophone in the marching band.

Lemar worked as a phlebotomist, restaurant manager, and truck driver until he settled on his passion and love for performing as a musician. Lemar enjoyed running on the Lake Front and Karate. He was an avid martial arts student and earned a Green Belt. Lemar was also a keen chess player, with bragging rights, of course.

Lemar’s parents preceded him in death: Abraham Gladney, Sr. (January 2017) and Ada Mae Gladney (December 2025). Lemar leaves to cherish his memories: Four siblings, Abraham Gladney Jr. (Chicago, IL), Janice Gladney (Coppell, TX), Arlene Gladney (Forest Park, IL) and Francine Gladney (Chicago, IL); eight aunts, Blondean Greer (Chicago, IL), Jimmy Lois Miller (Westchester, IL), Min Doris Hannah (Chicago, IL), Martha Goss (Park Forest, IL), Mae Francis Goss (Chicago, IL), Betty Miller (Elmwood Park, IL), Marvel Whittaker (Chicago, IL) and Wil Lou Goss (Louisville, MS); two uncles, Joe Goss (Louisville, MS) and Joe Scales (Macon, MS); and nephews and nieces. Lemar was loved by a host of cousins, classmates, and invaluable friends.

“Rest in Peace, Big Brother. Until We Meet Again. We Love You.”
