Barbara Ann Jeans was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose life was a beautiful reflection of faith, kindness, and unconditional love.
Born on August 20, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Genevieve Carnegie Jeans and Andrew Charles Coleman, Barbara was raised on the west side of Chicago, where she attended Crane High School. She departed this life peacefully on July 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that will be treasured for generations.
Barbara had a strong work ethic and a generous heart. Over the years, she held many jobs, but her greatest accomplishment came when she became her own boss and opened a home child care business. Caring for children and supporting families was more than a job for Barbara—it was her calling.
She was known for her patience, open heart, and willingness to help anyone in need. Barbara had a gift for making people feel loved, valued, and at home. Her warmth, her laughter, and her nurturing spirit touched countless lives.
She lived with purpose, loved deeply, and gave selflessly. Her light will never fade.
SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY
her mother, Genevieve Carnegie Jeans; her father, Andrew Charles Coleman; her brother, Robert Jeans; her sister, Alma Jeans; her nephew, Derek Jeans; and her beloved soulmate, Freddy “S.T.” Bobo.
SHE LEAVES TO CHERISH HER MEMORY
her two loving daughters, Shirley Jeans and Natalie Bobo.
SHE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY
her sisters: Mae Carnegie, Bernice Jeans, Kim Coleman, and Kathy Coleman Harrison; and her brothers: David Jeans, Benjamin Jeans, Melvin Jeans, William Jeans, Kenny Coleman, Joe Coleman, and Jerry Coleman.
